The main purpose of this role is to contribute to the operational delivery of an effective Fostering Service that positively promotes the Every Child matters outcomes for looked after children. You will be responsible for managing own caseload whilst complying with national and service procedures and guidance and Agency policies.

The Role:
• To ensure compliance in relation to all fostering agency tasks associated with the post including: foster carer assessment, approval, and training: promptly dealing with safeguarding issues, complaints, allegations or concerns; being involved in placement planning and foster carer reviews.
• Recruit, assess, and monitor the continued suitability and competence of foster carers, ensuring they provide a safe, healthy, enjoyable, nurturing and learning environment for the children they care for.
• Presenting Reports to Fostering Panel as required
• Ensuring that all Foster Carer Form F’s are updated as appropriate
• Assist in the delivery and planning of training for foster carers including the ‘Skills to Foster’ and core training.
• Support foster carers in preparing young people for independent or semi-independent living and contributing to the Pathway Plans.
• Ensure each child has an accurate and up to date Essential Information Record, Care Plan, PEP, and Health Plan and when appropriate a Pathway Plan on file and that foster carers have a copy available for reference.
• Work in partnership with the relevant authority to ensure that the child and young person’s needs, as identified in the Care Plan and Placement Agreement, are met

The Candidate:
• Must have relevant post qualification experience of working in a fostering team as a social worker
• The post holder must have a good understanding of Local Children’s Safeguarding Board procedures
• The candidate must also be HCPC registered with a recognised social work qualification, and must be able to drive.
• To also participate in the Out of Hours Duty System

Financial Details:
• The salary is from £28,000 to £34,000 will be negotiated based on previous experience

Duties:

- Manage the social work assessors, both independent SW and internal SW staff in delivering the assessment to a deadline, through phone, email, face to face and the web forum
- Lead, motivate, nurture and manage your team
- Decision making regarding each assessment and effective communication with families
- Quality assure each assessment for social work content
- Process statutory checks and references
- Manage the timing of assessments in line with panel availability to ensure efficiency, liaising effectively with the Panel Manager and Panel Chair as required
- Oversee delivery of each family file quality assured family file into the organisation.
- Provide reports/statistics to the Operations Manager and Management on families in assessment, as required.
- Contracting and day to day issues
- Produce clear and concise assessor guidelines.
- To recruit suitably qualified assessors.
- Contract with third party organisations for the utilisation of assessors where appropriate.
- Provide an assessor training programme, either individually or in groups to provide clarity over BtB ethos

A medium sized, family feel IFA in the South West are looking for an experienced and passionate supervising social worker to join their team. This role will suit an experienced children’s / fostering social worker who is keen to further develop their career in the independent fostering sector, working for an Independent Fostering Agency that is continuously growing and improving it’s service.
The caseload will be between 6 and 12 so very manageable and you will have a big impact on the regions development plans.
This role will be home based, but there will be an office Plymouth region and good regional support. The region you will be covering is central Devon with a good focal point being around the Okehampton area.
Duties will include:
• Support and supervision to a small existing case load of carers in the region – based across Suffolk and Cambridgeshire
• Further regional development, recruiting and assessing potential carers
• Carrying out of Form F assessments and initial visits
• The presentation of applications to the fostering panel
• Delivery of training to carers
• Regular visits to carers and the young people in their care
• Reporting and recording on foster carers performance, needs and on placement progress

You will be:
• HCPC registered with considerable post qualification experience ideally within LAC and Fostering.
• Have access to a vehicle for some travel around the Mid Devon region.
